Moisturizing Whipped Body Butter

September 6, 2014

Fall is coming and I love it! Apples, squash, cool nights and red wine (yup, yup!). But, with it comes dry, cooler weather and dry skin, right?

I love coconut oil and I used that s*#t on everything.  I used it to cook with, it’s in my homemade toothpaste that is super-easy to whip up, and I use it for oil pulling.

Now, I used to use it as a moisturizer but stopped.  Why?  I found it too oily, it didn’t absorb so I was left with oily skin and I actually don’t find that coconut oil deeply moisturizes which is what I need most.

But, what if I whipped it with another oil, such as avocado, and added some amazing doTERRA Essential oils, what what I be left with?

Awesomeness in a jar, that’s what!  What a difference it makes when it is whipped and added with a deeply moisturizing oil.

I actually made my blend with doTERRA’s Slim and Sassy Metabolic Blend of grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, ginger and cinnamon. We all know that citrus fruits have the ability to detoxify and even break through fat so I call this my Slimming Whipped Body Butter.

Note: Because Slim and Sassy contains citrus essential oils that may increase photosensitivity in the skin, it is recommended that you avoid sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after topical application. However, there is only a small amount of oil contained in the butter that you should not have any adverse reactions. But, feel free to sub out this blend with lavender, peppermint, ylang ylang, etc.

Moisturizing Whipped Body Butter

– 1 cup of (not to) solid organic, cold-pressed coconut oil (liquid coconut oil didn’t work so I chilled it for a few minutes until it was almost solid and perfection!)
-v1/2 cup of organic avocado oil (or any organic oil)
-v10-15 drops of doTERRA Slim & Sassy Essential Oil or any oil from doTERRA.

– In a stand-up mixture equipped with a whisk, place all ingredients and process on high speed until the oil is whipped up light and fluffy just like whipped cream.
– Pour into glass jars and leave out at room temperature.

Note: if the whipped butter melts (which it will on a hot summer night), simply place in the fridge and re-whip for a few minutes.

So, tell me, are you a coconut oil lover like me?  Do you use it as part of your eco-beauty care?  Tell me in the comments below.
