ELB Detox & Glow Smoothie

April 13, 2014

I think we’re all in agreement that the best way to incorporate greens into your diet is through smoothies and juices. Juicing, in particular, was such a game changer for me – that instant impact of vitamins and minerals to my system! Immediate benefits include improved energy, skin, and improved digestion (including regular bowel movements).  You’ll find a plethora (yes, pleth-ora) of smoothie recipes right here.

This is my favourite green smoothie and I drink it daily.  But, I needed to switch things up and create my own signature green bevie.

The ELB Detox & Glow Smoothie (#DGS) includes some key ingredients: cinnamon helps to stabilize blood sugar, ginger is an natural detoxifier and anti-inflammatory herb (and it adds a little heat), chia seeds for a burst of omega fatty acids, pineapple for their natural enzymes that help support digestive health and so much more…

Don’t be scared of this green smoothie.  Even though it has a full two cups of spinach (I actually put 3 cups!), the banana and pineapple blend it out.  Super antioxidants and you’re skin will love you!

2 cups of organic greens (spinach, romaine, kale or a mixture)
1 Scoop of Genuine Health Vegan Fermented Protein
1 lemon
1 inch, ginger, peeled
2 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of turmeric
1 tbsp of chia seeds
1 tbsp of flax
2 tbsp of oil such as flax/omega blend/coconut oil
1 cup of frozen/fresh pineapple or blueberries (omit completely and add 2 drops stevia for low sugar)
4 cups of water, or non-dairy milk (I like a mixture of both)
